But they are still obviously contenders for the wild card along with either Baltimore, Boston and possibly the Yankees out of the east, and Anaheim or Texas from the west (hopefully our beloved Mariners).

I like Texas in the west and Boston is the east to win the division so that leaves us with Chicago, Baltimore, and Anaheim battling it out for the wild card. Anaheim has done nothing but over achieve this year, however it may not catch with them since Vlad is returning at some point and Ervin Santana (the new Johan) has just joined the rotation. He may be their best starter by the end of the year. Despite this I am very unimpressed with Anaheim and their low OBP ways (although I like to not that Vlad is siiiiiick, and that he walk smore than people think).

Then we have Baltimore. Their offense is the shit, I'm not going to lie to you. I think Brian Roberts will produce the rest of the year (although I doubt he will be leading MLB in OPS like he is now, while I'm thinking of it I'd just like to note that Raul Ibanez is 12th in the AL is OPS, and that is tight). So the question is can the pitching hold up enough to get them into the playoffs. Yes, is the answer. Their pen is very good with Ryan and Julio, and Kline is not too bad either. Their starting pitching is a little more shaky, but when healthy probably about the middle of the pack. Eric Bedard broke out this year striking out batters in massive numbers, and from what I hear he should be back relatively soon. Cabrera is the other ace of their staff, he's also putting up huge K rates this year. He has a bit of a walk problem, but as I heard someone say earlier this year I would still trade all five Mariners starters for him.

I pick Chicago to finish last out of these three teams. It is a shame that they are succeeding at all because now a bunch of dumbasses are going to be preaching about small-ball all year. To be honest small-ball can suck my balls because most of the time when people claim it is having succeeding somewhere it either isn't small-ball (Mariners 2001) or is largely a product of luck, which is the case here. Ozzie Guillen is an idiot and my second mildly bold prediction is that he will be fired before that shiny new contract that they gave him is completed. Let me clear up the myth now: a managers demeanor doesn't effect a teams record, it can however piss some people off (see Thomas, Frank). Anyhow much of this team success can be attributed to defense, which is not a bad thing as we found out in '01, and I'm sure Garcia is enjoying himself, but their offense is near the bottom of the league, and think it will be the end of them in the end.

Yeahhhhhhhhh Bitches!

Hey I've got my own blog!
